Two heavyweight fixtures hosted the Nike Air Max Icons collection this week with Leonardo Bonucci and Kevin Strooman both lacing up in the Air Max 97 inspired Magista Obra II as Italy beat the Netherlands 2-1 in Amsterdam.
With the Air Max Mercurial already thrown onto the international scene during the Germany vs England game last Wednesday it was time for the limited edition Magista to take centre stage. Taking on a typically wavy set of visuals and repositioned Swoosh to mirror the aesthetics of the Air Max, the Magista became the only boot from the Air Max Icons collection to get on the scoresheet thanks to Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci's winner.
There was also Air Max representation over in Paris as the Spanish central defence pairing of Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos both switched into the Air Max 1 influenced Nike Tiempo Legend 6 design as Spain beat France 2-0. That's it for the Air Max Icons collection as Nike bring down the curtain on their Air Max Day celebrations as domestic football returns. Strong coverage across the Magista, Mercurial and Tiempo silos, however, there was no on-pitch presence from the Hypervenom as Alexander Lacazette, who was scheduled to wear them was left out of the squad for the tie at the Stade de France.
