The next-generation of adidas football footwear is on the horizon as more undisclosed blackout designs are appearing on training grounds worldwide. South America becomes the latest place to host a sighting as a trio of Chile players slip into the unreleased silhouette.
Training in Santiago ahead of their 3-1 World Cup Qualifying win over Venezuela, the three Chile players used the session to get accustomed to their upcoming footwear. Adidas are constantly supplying their players with new materials to test on blackout boots, including tweaks to their existing models, but the boot in question is set to be a new release from the brand. Whilst there have been unconfirmed reports on a new adidas boot for this year, the Three Stripes remain tight-lipped on any official details.
When you're the best player in your country, pants are very much optional.
The Chilean internationals aren't the first players to display the next chapter of adidas football innovation – a version of the same silhouette has already been spotted in Europe, on the feet of Borussia Dortmund youngster Alexander Isak, but Isak's boots featured laces, the latest blackouts do not. The laceless design will be the headline product from the new adidas collection and on first inspection features an all new shape, most notably on the ankle construction.
A heightened collar is present but adjusted and repositioned in comparison to adidas' current X and ACE editions. Three solid block stripes are slapped on the midfoot of the one-piece constructed upper which will arrive as the top tier model of the new series. What we do know is that the blackout boot will be a stand alone silo and not currently part of the Control and Chaos collections. The speculation is strong but for now adidas are colouring in their cards black and keeping them close to their chest.
