Neymar provides a first look at Nike's next on-pitch collection by slipping into the upcoming Nike Mercurial Vapor XI colourway to join up with his international teammates ahead of Brazil's 2018 World Cup Qualifier with Uruguay this week.
Having made the switch from the leading Hypervenom star to Mercurial man, Neymar was always going to be amongst the first to receive his new boots and he becomes the first to lace them up and put them to work. Set to launch before the end of the month as Nike's final on-pitch boot collection for the 2016/17 season, Neymar's Mercurial will be joined by corresponding editions of the Magista, Hypervenom and Tiempo.
Taking inspiration from the Nike 'Clash Collection' worn at the EURO 2012 Championships, Neymar's Vapor XI features somewhat of a half-and-half design. Rather than the solid block colours of the 'Clash Collection', the unreleased boots on the feet of the Barca forward feature a steadier striped gradient as the boot turns from red to white on the descent towards the toe area.
The complete collection of the upcoming Nike on-pitch boots is expected to follow the same theme of Neymar's Mercurial, with a different colour marking each respective silo. The 2012 'Clash Collection' was one of the most successful Swoosh packs in recent years thanks to it's distinctive visuals and equally as impressive sales figures, and with Nike's boot stable stronger than ever it's a collection that's nailed on for similar results. Look out for more players joining Neymar in the new series in the coming days and weeks.
