Ryan Babel shows he's still front of the Mercurial queue as he slips into an unreleased Nike Mercurial Superfly V colourway with an all new design.
The former Liverpool forward is never far from a new Mercurial release. Ahead of the Europa League tie between Besiktas and Olympiacos, Babel used his side's training session to show off the latest additions to his collection. It's the first we've seen of this new Mercurial design, which boasts a heavy helping of Nike branding on the instep.
Under the hood there's nothing new about Babel's boots. A standard Mercurial Superfly V as far as technology goes, it's the change-up in visuals that's the talking point here. The Superfly V will be a year old this summer, and while Nike are expected to wait until Spring/Summer '18 before releasing the Superfly VI, the new look design keeps the boot fresh heading into the 2017/18 season.
The design features a "Laser Orange" upper with a black heel and black Swoosh across the forefoot. White Nike branding dominates the instep, replacing the smaller Swoosh we see on the current boot. A white chassis with "Volt" studs round off the design.
Expect the new Nike Mercurial Superfly V design to release this summer ahead of the 2017/18 season.
