Charly Musonda: The Nike Custom Kid

The hype is strong with Charly Musonda right now. With a Community Shield appearance and a Premier League debut already under this belt this season we can expect to see a lot of more of the Chelsea youngster this season. And where Musonda goes, his custom boots usually go with him.

Musonda has been on the fringes of the Chelsea first team for the past few seasons. He's rated highly at the club and has forced his way into Antonio Conte's plans this summer after a spell with Real Betis last season. It's not just Musonda's talent that's been turning heads; he's got one of the strongest Nike Mercurial collections in the Premier League. His latest custom Mercurial Veloce III joining his impressive archive of throwback and bespoke colourways.

Musonda has been wearing the Mercurial line throughout his short career and often turned out for the Chelsea youth sides in custom NikeiD colourways. Nowadays he's rubbing shoulders with the elite in the Chelsea first team but he's still repping his custom designs, including the red and black Vapor XI below. Now that he's a more prominent figure in the first team it'll be interesting to see if Nike try to push him into their in-line colourways, or give him the freedom to keep creating.

Should the Swoosh wish to install Musonda as the face of their NikeiD option then they'd have a player that has an eye for stylish colourways, and they'd also have a focal point for fans to look out for, to see what he can come up with next whilst flying the NikeiD flag. Having played the majority of his teenage years in the shadows of youth football we've only had a glimpse of Musonda's custom game so far, one of the highlights being his all gold Nike Mercurial Veloce II.

Not only does Musonda own one of the most diverse custom collection on the Premier League scene, he's also built up an archive of throwback Mercurials, including the Mercurial Vapor III he wore against Barcelona for Real Betis last season. That boot was launched in 2006, when Musonda was just ten years old. The kid's got style and a genuine love for the Swoosh. Definitely one for Nike to keep close.
