Isco joins the growing list of high-profile players to lace up in the next generation Mercurial as Nike prepare to launch their summer showstoppers that will headline the 2018 World Cup.
Joining the likes of Mbappe, Layvin Kurzawa, Neymar and Leroy Sane, Real Madrid’s Spanish playmaker has become the latest player to switch into the next generation Mercurial Vapor boots as the Swoosh count down the days to their showpiece launch on the calendar. While Cristiano Ronaldo and Serge Aurier have been spotted in the Superfly VI model, Isco has slipped into what’s expected to be prototype editions of the low-cut Mercurial Vapor XII - the twelfth model in the famed series.
Nike like to launch their summer showpiece around March/April and all signs suggest we're on course for a Spring 2018 release in the climax of the European season before all attentions turn to Russia. The Mercurial Vapor made its World Cup debut back in 2002 as the first generation of the Vapor series and has gone on to feature prominently in four World Cups in total. The 2018 tournament in Russia set to be the fifth.
Isco’s boots reveal more of the anticipated changes Nike have activated on the silo update that will spearhead them into Russia next summer summer. The upper has taken on some noticeable changes, far more distinctive than previous generations. A smoother material replaces the “Speed Rib” 3D texture of the Vapor XI, while Flyknit is introduced across the upper and collar design after the success of the Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra.
Stay tuned for the latest on what's to come from the Nike Mercurial Superfly VI and Mercurial Vapor XII.
