Global Boot Spotting

This weekend provided an early taste of World Cup flavour as competing nations switched into their new kits over the international break. We're looking a little further down to pick out the best of the custom, latest and limited edition boots on show. Let's go...

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7

Cristiano Ronaldo received his 'Chapter 6' Mercurial last week to match up with the new Portugal home shirt. CR7 switched into the signature design to score two stoppage time goals to beat Egypt 2-1 on Friday night. That'll do very nicely.

James McClean (Rep of Ireland) Nike What The Mercurial

James McClean must have the biggest Mercurial collection on the professional scene. The Ireland midfielder snags every limited edition Merc drop, and always wears them in training, often in games too. This week he was sporting the latest 'What The Mercurial' design.

James McClean Again (Rep of Ireland) Nike Mercurial Kim Jones

Told you. He doesn't let many escape his grasp. As well as lacing up in the 'What The Merc' McClean also got his hands on the Kim Jones x Nike Mercurial Superfly 360 to further bolster his limited edition collection.

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool Legends) adidas Predator 18.1

Steven Gerrard was back in the adidas Predator this weekend as a Liverpool Legends squad hosted a Bayern Munich Legends team at Anfield. The former Reds captain was wearing the all black 'Nite Crawler' edition of the adidas Predator 18.1.

Bjorn Tore Kvarme (Liverpool Legends) adidas Predator Powerswerve

There was old school adidas Predator representation on the Anfield turf at the weekend too, as Bjorn Tore Kvarme was sporting the 2007 Predator Powerswerve. The Norwegian scored his first ever goal for the club at 45 years old.

Jerome Boateng (Germany) Nike Tiempo 7

Jerome Boateng added a bit of custom flavour to his Nike Tiempo 7 boots as Germany drew 1-1 with Spain on Friday night. Boateng added odd green and orange laces to his boots, and yeah, this is basically an excuse to have another look at that stunning Germany away shirt.

Edinson Flores (Peru) Umbro Medusae II Elite

Peru got their early World Cup preparations off to a strong start at the weekend by beating Croatia 2-0 in the United States. Edinson Flores was on the scoresheet wearing a bright pink and yellow edition of the Umbro Medusae II Elite.

Palun Lloyd (Gabon) Nike Hypervenom GX

Nike reached deep into their distinguished archives in October last year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the '97 Air GX football boot. Palun Lloyd grabbed a pair to wear against United Arab Emirates at the weekend.

Modestas Vorobjovas (Lithuania) PUMA Future 18.1

Modestas Vorobjovas was wearing the first edition of the PUMA Future 18.1 NetFit as Lithuania lost 4-0 Georgia. The black and yellow design was launched ahead of the first on-pitch colourway in limited quantities.

Presnel Kimpembe (France) adidas Glitch 18

PSG youngster Presnel Kimpembe slipped into the latest 'Glitch Pack' over the international weekend. The latest metallic and red outerskin is part of the new 'Haze Skins' collection.

Mohamed Abdelshafy (Egypt) Nike Hypervenom 3

Egypt were close to beating reigning European Champions Portugal on Friday night until two late CR7 goals ended their night in defeat. Mohamed Abdelshafy provided the pick of the boot spotting in his custom "Red/Volt/Blue" Hypervenom 3.
