Global Boot Spotting

As we read through the final chapter of the 2017/18 European season we're taking a look at which players were making noise with their boot choices this week. Titles clinched, relegation looming, and the pick of the latest, unreleased, and custom boots on show. Let's go...

Marco Asensio (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Superfly 360 2010

Marco Ascenio remained in the NikeiD Mercurial Superfly 360 design this weekend after his heroics in the Champions League in midweek. The Real Madrid man was wearing the 2010 colourway as a nod to Spain's World Cup success that year.

Igor Smolnikov (Zenit Saint Petersburg) adidas X 18.1

The next-generation X 18 was on pitch this weekend. Previously we've only seen the blackout colourway on training pitches, but Zenit defender Igor Smolnikov switched into the upcoming silhouette that's scheduled to launch ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Presnel Kimpembe (PSG) adidas Glitch 18

PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe is flying the flag solo for the adidas Glitch series in France this season. Kimpembe was selected by adidas to kick off the Glitch life in Paris and he switched into the latest "Sol Pack" design this weekend.

Adrian Mierzejewski (Sydney FC) Nike Tiempo Legend V

Adrian Mierzejewski opted for the odd-boot design this week by wearing two different coloured Nike Tiempo Legend V colourways. The Sydney FC man began the game in the gold "Tech Craft" design, but ended the game with a green boot on his right foot, presumably due to a split.

Kylian Mbappe (PSG) Nike Mercurial Superfly 360 1998

Kylian Mbappe was another Nike forward to switch into the Mercurial Heritage Pack this week. The PSG man was wearing the 1998 colourway on the current generation Superfly to pay tribute to the design worn by Ronaldo in the 1998 World Cup – a tournament won by hosts France.

Federico Chiesa (Fiorentina) Nike Mercurial Vapor 360 2006

Federico Chiesa was representing Italy's 2006 World Cup win from the Nike Mercurial Heritage Pack. The Fiorentina man's bright yellow design from the Mercurial Vapor III was on show as he helped his side dent Napoli's Serie A title hopes.

Reiss Nelson (Arsenal) adidas Glitch 18

Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson was handed a start at Old Trafford on Sunday as his side went down 2-1 to Man United. Nelson is one of a number of adidas youngsters in the UK to be wearing the Glitch this season, and he mixed things up the week by switching into the Haze Pack.

Paul Pogba (Man United) adidas Predator 18+

Paul Pogba lined-up against Nelson to score his first goal in his latest signature adidas Predator 18+ boots. The Frenchman's complete Season 3 'PP' collection, headlined by the laceless football boot, is set to drop globally this week.

Matheus (Gamba Osaka) adidas Predator 18+

Another player in the adidas Predator 18+ this weekend was Gamba Osaka's Matheus. Rather than wearing the blue "Deadly Strike" colourway being sported by all leading Predator players, Matheus opted for the all black "Nite Crawler" edition.

Nick Powell (Wigan) adidas F50 adizero

Nick Powell took things back to September 2011 this week by lacing up in the "High Energy/Electricity" launch edition of the adidas F50 adizero as Wigan took a step closer to clinching the League One title.

Steven Beitashour (LAFC) adidas 11Pro Crazylight

LAFC left it late to clinch a dramatic last minute 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders at the opening of their new stadium. Full back Steven Beitashour provided the pick of the boot spotting by wearing the adidas 11Pro Crazylight edition from October 2014.

Leroy Sane (Man City) Nike Mercurial Vapor 360 2014

Leroy Sane finally got to debut his NikeiD Mercurial Vapor 360 from the Mercurial Heritage Pack on Sunday. Sane was wearing the 2014 colourway to celebrate Germany's World Cup win from that year – a colourway that launched on the Superfly IV.
