The 2018 England World Cup squad trained together for the first time this afternoon as almost every player on show switched into their new respective work shoes for their summer jobs in Russia next month.
Absent of players from Manchester United & Chelsea (FA Cup Final recovery) and Liverpool (Champions League Final duty) Gareth Southgate's squad assembled in the St George's Park sun as preparations for next month's group games commenced. Dele Alli provided the pick of the new boots on show by becoming the only player to slip into the new Predator 18+ World Cup colourway.
The Tottenham midfielder showcased the bright yellow/black/red design which will land in the coming days as the official World Cup 2018 Predator colourway, alongside a full tournament pack collection.
Before that though, adidas are expected to launch their next-generation X 18 model – a boot worn by England duo Danny Welbeck (laceless X 18+) and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (X 18.1). Expect a Champions League Final debut for that, as indicated by Mo Salah yesterday.
Nike's 2018 World Cup Collection has already launched, and the vast majority of England players are Swoosh men. Nike will have a strong presence with the Three Lions this summer, especially considering the all-white "Just Do It" Pack complementing the England home shirt. Eric Dier, Harry Maguire, Jamie Vardy, and Harry Kane were all sporting their new designs this afternoon.
As for other brands, just Adam Lallana will wear PUMA's currently unreleased World Cup collection, should he recover from injury in time to jump off the standby list. Also, look out for Trent Alexander-Arnold representing Under Armour, and Jesse Lingard in the Nemeziz edition of the adidas World Cup aesthetic.
