Cristiano Ronaldo has switched into his latest signature and limited edition Nike Mercurial Superfly this week ahead of Portugal's 2018 World Cup Last 16 tie with Uruguay on Saturday in Sochi. The special edition version of the Chapter 6 boot will remain on the feet of CR7 for the duration of the tournament.
Revealed earlier in the week, but still awaiting a launch date, the Mercurial Superfly CR7 Chapter 6 "Edição Especial" is a limited edition take on Ronaldo's most recent Chapter 6 boots from his signature series; a boot he was wearing before he switched into the "Just Do It" Pack for the World Cup group stage.
Just 154 pairs of the design will drop to celebrate the fact that in 154 games for his country Ronaldo has netted more goals than any European player in history.
Ronaldo currently boasts four 2018 World Cup goals to his name, one behind leader Sir Harry of Kane. A huge two weeks awaits if CR7 wants to win the (*actually quite tedious*) battle against Messi to establish himself as the (*cringes*) GOAT. Not that he's bothered about labels. Nah...
One, two, three or four. That's how many games Ronaldo will wear the Mercurial Superfly CR7 Chapter 6 "Edição Especial" for. Stay tuned for news on a drop date, but with just 154 pairs being released we'd expect them to arrive before Saturday.
Would balls the plans right up if Portugal were to get knocked out against Uruguay... and with a Portuguese back four with an overall pace ranking of somewhere between Per Metresacker and Stonehenge, there's a real possibility that he might just wear these little gems once.
