Global Boot Spotting

As more nations leave the Russian party we're taking a look back at the past seven days of World Cup action to see which players caught our eye with their boot choices. From customs, to throwbacks, to limited editions. You know the drill, let's go...

Trent Alexander-Arnold (England) Under Armour Magnetico

England youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold was handed his World Cup debut against Belgium on Thursday night in Kaliningrad. The Liverpool full back is the only player in the squad representing Under Armour as he wore the black/silver Magnetico colourway.

Sergio Aguero (Argentina) PUMA ONE 18.1

PUMA shift their attentions over to France and Antoine Griezmann as Argentina and Sergio Aguero were eliminated on Saturday. Aguero did notch a late consolation to give the ONE 18.1 some more deserved spotlight. A seriously strong silo to begin the 18/19 season with.

Vincent Kompany (Belgium) adidas ACE 16.1

Belgium's Vincent Kompany has no time for laceless boots. The Man City centre half has been critical of adidas' decision to discontinue their leather range of elite boots and has remained in the leather ACE 16.1. The only pair on show in the 2018 World Cup.

Benjamin Mendy (France) adidas Glitch 18

Benjamin Mendy has had limited time on pitch in Russia so far. However, the Manchester City full back did make an appearance against Denmark in the final Group Stage game wearing his exclusive and signature Shark Skin Glitch 18 design.

Mario Mandzukic (Croatia) Nike Hypervenom 3

One of the standout features of the 2018 World Cup boots has been the personalised triangle on the heel of Nike silos. The smart customisation option has allowed players to show off their nation's flag, as Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic did to help his side reach the Quarter Finals.

Aleksandr Golovin (Russia) Nike Mercurial Vapor X

Russia continued their heroics on Sunday as they knocked out 2010 winners Spain on penalties. The hosts have defied the odds and poor pre-tournament form to become heroes in their own home. Nike will be hoping they can lure Aleksandr Gloving out of the Vapor X and into the Just Do It Pack for the Quarter Finals.

RJ Allen (Orlando City) Concave Aura +

The MLS is still continuing in the shadow of the World Cup with Orlando City losing 4-0 to Atlanta United at the weekend. RJ Allen provided some on-pitch coverage for Concave by wearing the white/blue Aura+ model.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 Edicao Especial

Cristiano Ronaldo was supplied with a super-limited edition Superfly last week to wear for the knockout stages. Just 154 pairs were to be released but the hype has seriously been flattened by Portugal's elimination from the tournament. Still, they looked nice on pitch, didn't they?

Franco Escobar (Atlanta United) Nike Mercurial Superfly V

Atlanta United full back Franco Escobar was showing off more customised fire at the weekend as he wore an eccentric Mercurial Superfly V design against Orlando City. Escobar has previously worn a few different bespoke colourways, but this is easily his most daring to date.

Ever Banega (Argentina) Nike Mercurial Vapor 360

Ever Banega's boot choice attracted a lot of attention throughout Argentina's short stay in Russia. The Sevilla midfielder opted for a blackout version of the Mercurial Vapor 360 with just a small white squad number on the tongue. Banega had worn the launch colourway to wrap up the La Liga season, but went blackout for the World Cup, indicating his contract expired at the end of May.
