The Madrid derby may have been uneventful in terms of goalmouth action but there was some alternative creativity on show at the Bernabeu on Saturday night as Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann wore a custom, hand-painted PUMA Future 2.1 football boot design.
The design was difficult to make out on television screens but upon closer look the boots reveal detailed artwork that consists of a large Atletico Madrid club crest and a cartoon version of Griezmann doing his signature Fortnite celebration on the heel. Griezmann's squad number '7' and initials also featured on the pull tags at the top of the laces.
The man responsible for the custom design is a familiar face in the world of custom football boots – Orravan Design – or Pierre Navarro as he's known to his pals. Navarro has previously designed custom, hand-painted boots for Lukas Podolski and Bakary Sako, as well boasting that famous Swarovski Crystals Mercurial Superfly for Sako amongst his work.
The latest link up with Griezmann sees the Atleti striker firmly grasping the World Cup trophy (at least we hope that's what it is) in his France kit, and the Europe League trophy in his Atletico kit, whilst performing his "Take The L" dance.
