PSG frontman Kylian Mbappé looks set to pick up from where Neymar left off by lacing up in the Nike Mercurial Superfly GS 360 in the Champions League against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Just 2018 pairs of the re-worked Green Speed boots were released earlier this week, with each individually numbered pair selling out almost instantly, but now it's time for Nike to showcase them on the biggest stage of all, under the brightest spotlights. That's where Mbappé steps in, and the Frenchman has been putting them through their paces ahead of Liverpool's visit to the Parc des Princes tomorrow.

Should Mbappé wear the GS series on pitch in the Champions League showdown against the Reds he'll be wearing them six years after his PSG teammate Neymar slipped into the first generation back at the 2012 Olympic Games in London when playing for Brazil.

Just like the previous generation, the Nike Mercurial Superfly GS 360 is made entirely of recycled materials and continues to be one of the most hyped limited edition series in circulation. Mbappé's appearance (should he be fit enough to face Liverpool) will only add to that reputation, especially if he gets himself on the scoresheet.

Wonder if Neymar still has his original pair knocking around somewhere, or if Nike were tempted to dish out a second pair to the Brazilian, and a third pair to Edinson Cavani for a three-pronged GS attack. The whole strike-force in limited edition boots and kits, surely that would have been peak PSG hype.

At least they'll still look slick when they get beaten by a socks-rolled-down, shirt untucked, short-back-and-sides James Milner penalty.
