Mario Götze Trains in Unreleased Blackout Nike Boots

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Götze becomes the latest Nike star to contemplate being involved in a new generation project from the Swoosh as he trains in a blackout prototype of a 2019 football boot.

We've already seen the silhouette on the feet of Chelsea's Willian, Manchester United's Marcus Rashford and Liverpool duo James Milner and Jordan Henderson – players that currently wear a variety of Nike boot silos including the Hypervenom, Mercurial, Magista and Tiempo. So what are we looking at here? This will be Nike's first boot drop of 2019 and it won't fall under any of the aforementioned titles.

Nike have already begun a re-shuffle of their boot silos this season as the PhantomVSN replaced the Magista line earlier in the summer, and what we're looking at here is undoubtedly the next chapter of another current Nike boot series. Nike have yet to announce any official details but we can assume that Götze is wearing the boot that will replace the long-serving Hypervenom silo in the coming months.

Why do we say that? Just look at all that shooting tech built into the upper of the blackout boots. On first look the silhouette appears to share some characteristics with the new PhantomVSN silhouette, but what's more intriguing is that this packs a whole lot of Nike T90 Laser IV vibes, and nobody's going to be complaining about that.

The Hypervenom series originally launched in 2013 and a five-year stint is decent shift in terms of a modern market lifespan. Nike are still keeping the name under wraps for now, but the new silhouette will join the Mercurial, Tiempo and PhantomVSN silos as Nike's updated quartet.

Stay tuned for more news of Götze's blackout Nike boots...
