He's the little Uruguayan that has burst onto the Premier League to give Arsenal a tenacious blast of fight, and now Lucas Torreira is looking to enjoy a bigger slice of the Premier League cake by backing up his recent good form with an improved sponsorship deal.

Torreira is quickly becoming one of the most talked about Premier League arrivals this season thanks to his solid and committed performances in the Arsenal midfield and unsurprisingly that has alerted potential suitors to his value. Due to his low profile on arrival to the English top flight it's likely Torreira was on quite a basic sponsorship deal with Nike, and that's attracted the attention of other brands.

The Uruguayan has been testing a couple of blackout football boots in recent weeks, namely the New Balance Tekela and adidas Nemeziz 18+. Both of these boots are already on the market, meaning the blackout treatment isn't to protect an unreleased design, it's to protect Torreira's current contract with Nike – which we can assume is about to expire at the turn of the year.

Torreira is likely to be in talks with all three interested parties, with Nike undoubtably having a preference to keep him on their books. Decisive goals against Tottenham and Huddersfield wearing the Nike Mercurial Superfly 360 will have risen his stock in recent weeks, along with his growing reputation as an Emirates fan favourite. Whichever brand he ends up representing, you can bet on his new deal dramatically eclipsing his current contract with the Swoosh.
