Taking a look back at a week of top European clashes and smaller domestic affairs, this is the weekly recap of who’s wearing what. Signature boots, custom creations, new releases and throwback flair make up this week’s boot spotting. Let’s go…
Dani Alves (Paris Saint-Germain) Nike Mercurial Vapor NJR Silencio
You know how it is: you get a signature boot made for you but your blooming metatarsal's playing up again. Luckily, Neymar had good friend and teammate Dani Alves to step up to the plate and sport the Mercurial 'NJR Silencio' in PSG's match against Manchester United this week. Didn't quite go according to plan for the Parisians, and Neymar will have been wishing it was him wearing the boots.
Paul Pogba (Manchester United) adidas Predator 19+
This week, adidas launched the icon Predators, with special recreations of the Precision and Accelerator for Beckham and Zidane respectively. But Pogba took to the pitch against Arsenal in what can only be assumed to be the culmination of the rumoured collab between the two icons. Predominantly gold with black trim and red accents, this is one to look out for.
Sergej Milinković-Savić (Lazio) Nike What the Mercurial
Lazio's Serbian midfielder turned up for training this week in 2016's Nike 'What the Mercurial', which showcased 16 of the most memorable Mercurial colorways from the past for what is one bold shoe. Hard to miss.
Sergio Busquets (Barcelona) Nike Phantom VNM
Switching things up a bit, Sergio Busquets took to the pitch for Barca's game against Real Vallecano in the Nike Phantom VNM from the 'Fully Charged' pack. Maybe the switch from the 'Game Over' pack has something to do with how much better this colourway goes with Barca's kit. Then again, maybe not.
Mason Greenwood (Manchester United) Nike Mercurial GS360
Hot off his sterling performance for United in the Champions League against PSG, young Mason Greenwood turned up for training in some Nike iD Mercurial GS360. Lad obviously has a decent sense of style as he tied the look of the boots in with United's training ground attire. Nice.
Mauro Zarate (Boca Juniors) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII
Argentina forward Mauro Zarate scored the opener inside five minutes in Boca Junior's 3-0 win over San Lorenzo, and he did so in his Nike iD Mercurial Vapor XII. He's opted for a white base with luminous trim and accents for a clean look.
Kyle Walker-Peters (Tottenham Hotspurs) adidas Nemeziz 19.1
KWP was seen this week trialling the new Nemeziz in training. The young right back usually wears adidas Glitch, so this may be a sign that he's considering switching silos in the not too distant future. He was back in his Glitch as Spurs lost to Southampton 2-1.
Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona) Mystery Nike Boot
From one black out to another, this time we switch brands to Nike and Barcelona's creative Brazilian, Phil Coutinho, wore a blacked out mystery boot to training this week. It's unknown what this boot is, but with the Phantom twins fairly new out, it could well be the first glance at a new Mercurial.
Keita Baldé (Inter Milan) Nike Mercurial Vapor 360
On loan from Monaco, Keita Balde is trying to make a name for himself at Inter Milan, and he did so this week by wearing the 'Heritage Pack' 2002 Mercurial in training. The boot mirrors the silver design of the first-generation Mercurial Vapor worn by Nike players in the 2002 World Cup.
