Champions League last 16 matches, FA Cup quarter finals and domestic league action has provided plenty for this week's Boot Spotting. From new releases and special editions to customs and throwback classics here’s what’s caught our eye…
Jesse Lingard (Manchester United) adidas Nemeziz 18.1
As part of a promotional campaign to sponsor Electronic Arts' latest game, 'Anthem', several Premier League players were supposed to wear specially customised adidas boots. For whatever reason it didn't work as planned, and so it fell to Jesse Lingard to represent on his return from injury in Manchester United's FA Cup loss against Wolves.
Memphis Depay (Lyon) Under Armour Spotlight
Dutchman Memphis Depay went into Lyon's crunch Champions League clash with Barcelona with a signature edition Under Armour boot called "Block Out The Noise". It features an all over static display that was inspired by his goal celebration. Sadly, special boots or not, Lyon were unable to mute Barcelona as the Catalan giants roared to a 5-1 win.
Rabbi Matondo (Schalke) PUMA Future 19.1
PUMA recently released the 'Alter Reality' pack, designed specifically for the next generation of talent. Young City graduate Rabbi Matondo returned to Manchester in his lo-cut Future 19.1s, with current side Schalke dreaming of a Champions League upset. Turns out it was something of a nightmare though as they were trounced 7-0.
Fabian Orellano (Eibar) adidas Predator Precision Beckham
The '25 Years of Predator' collection gave us recreations of Zinedine Zidane's Accelerator and, as seen on the feet of Fabian Orellano this weekend in Eibar's clash with Valladolid, David Beckham's Precision circa 2002. The crisp, white Predator helped Orellano give Eibar the lead, only for it to be cruelly snatched away by two stoppage time goals from the opposition.
Jonathan Biabiany (Parma) Nike Mercurial Vapor NJR Silencio
The Nike Mercurial Vapor Neymar 'Silencio' has been out for a couple of weeks now, but while we still await the return of the man himself in the signature boot, we have to look elsewhere. And so we find Parma winger Jonathan Biabiany doing his best Neymar as Parma got hammered 4-1 by Lazio.
Cristian Portugues (Girona) Nike Mercurial GS360
Winning this week's non-existent award for best coordination effort, Girona's attacking midfielder Cristian 'Portu' Portugues took to the field in a red and white pair of Nike iD Mercurial GS360, matching his kit perfectly. He also scored both goals in a 2-0 win. Good work all round.
Suso (AC Milan) Nike Mercurial Vapor 360
The Milan derby is a pretty big deal. Inter wore their special mashup jersey for the occasion, but AC's Suso went a bit more subtle as he laced up a Nike iD Mercurial Vapor. The Spaniard opted for a black core with grey accents. Inter went on to win the game 3-2.
Lucas Ocampos (Marseille) adidas F50 adizero
Bringing back memories of 2010, Marseille's Argentine winger, Lucas Ocampos decided to wear the striking yellow and black adidas F50 adizero from the South Africa World Cup in his side's match against PSG. The French giants beat Ocampos' Marseille 3-1.
Emerson Hyndman (Bournemouth) adidas F50 adizero
Another man opting for the throwback appeal of the F50 adizero was Bournemouth's Emerson Hyndman. The American turned ups for training in 2013's "Green Zest/White/Navy" colourway. Stands out, but not enough to earn Hyndman a place in the squad for Bournemouth's game against Newcastle unfortunately.
Phillippe Coutinho (Barcelona) Nike Mercurial Vapor
Coutinho's been switching things up a bit recently, experimenting in various boots in Nike's repertoire, from the Phantom VSN to a blacked out boot in training last week. For Barcelona's 4-1 La Liga win against Real Betis, the Brazilian opted for last year's Mercurial Vapor from the 'Just Do It' pack.
Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) Nike T90 Laser IV
Another man who's been dabbling a bit in his boot choices recently is man-wall, Virgil van Dijk. VVD has been seen training in PUMA and adidas while he sticks to Nike Tiempos on match days. For training this week though he decided to dip into the Nike archives with the Nike T90 Laser IV from 2011. Nice.
