Back with a spring in his step, Cristiano Ronaldo returned to training today, handing Juventus a massive boost ahead of their Champions League quarter final clash with Ajax. The Portuguese was spotted in the Nike Mercurial LVL UP as he was put through his paces at the Juventus Training Ground.
Ronaldo has been out of action since March 25, when he injured his hamstring on international duty. But the bad news for Ajax fans is that the Champions League’s all-time top scorer looks fit and ready to go for the quarter final clash, with the first leg set to take place in Amsterdam. Despite his absence, Juve haven’t appeared to miss the five time Ballon d’Or winner, picking up maximum points in Serie A. Still, you’d rather have him in your team than not.
Hitting the training ground, Ronaldo laced up for the first time in the Nike Mercurial Superfly VI ‘LVL UP’. The boot, which dropped at the end of last month, features an eclectic mix of different elements found on some of the most iconic Mercurial boots made in the past decade. In the absence of a signature CR7 option at the moment, the ‘LVL UP’ is the next on-pitch design or the big man. Even if he ain't fit, a few images of him training is more than enough to get a few pulses racing in the Ajax camp.
The 'LVL UP' has also been worn by Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr as Nike perhaps begin to look at a next generation of leading Swoosh icons. Still, you can't write CR7 off. Time and time again he's proved he's the past, the present and the future.
