Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has provided a first look at the next-generation of the adidas Predator series by slipping into a blacked-out edition of the unreleased Predator 20+ football boots. The stealth-like silhouette appeared on the feet of the Uruguayan as his side trained ahead of their weekend home fixture against SPAL.
It'll come as no surprise that adidas are sticking to the laceless technology, and while the update from Predator 18+ to Predator 19+ was barely noticeable, this release will be the most significant upgrade since the comeback of the Predator series in 2017. On first inspection the upper looks to have somewhat of a re-design while still featuring that trademark shooting and control technology, whether or not it includes an updated Control Skin material remains to be seen at this stage. As it stands adidas aren't keen to reveal much more, and there's every chance that Bentancur's boots aren't the finished article; we might still be looking at a prototype edition.
While the blackout wrap does hide any obvious technology innovations, it appears that the silhouette of the mid-cut collar has changed from the Predator 19+ boot. The Predator 20+ looks to use a higher cut Sock Fit Collar, especially when looking at the heels. Don't expect an imminent release just yet, as the name suggests the Predator 20+ will be launched for the new year and will headline the adidas collection moving into EURO 2020 territory. The Three Stripes do have a tendency to save landmark releases for the end of the year so it wouldn't be unrealistic to see the Predator 20+ in all its glory sometime before we tick into the new decade.
Stay tuned for more on the next-generation adidas Predator 20+ football boots.
