Cody Gakpo Trains In Next-Generation PUMA Future Boots

Netherlands youngster Cody Gakpo is getting in on the FW19 boot updates by taking PUMA's next-generation Future out for a spin in training this week. The PSV Eindhoven striker laced up the blacked-out design as he linked up with the Under 21s ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

It's that time of the year when brands begin to tease their next-generation projects for the new year, and PUMA already have one eye on a busy 2020 as they've dished out an unreleased version of the Future silo that will replace the current Future 4.1 as we head into EURO 2020 territory. We've already seen adidas begin to show their hand with the new Predator 20, and now PUMA are flexing with their own blackout moves.

Gakpo's blackout boots are an obvious upgrade of the Future series and feature an updated version of the brand's trademark NetFit technology. The tech, which allows players to customise their own lacing technique, is widened to create a cleaner aesthetic than the more 'holey' current generation. The front of the boot also features a smoother finish in comparison to the current design, with lends a more overall streamlined feel typical of a boot that falls into a 'speed' category. In terms of a release date, PUMA are yet to announce anything official but seeing as though the current generation only launched in June we wouldn't bank on seeing the first colourway before the year is up.
