Another week of action with some surprising results to say the least, and we’ve delved into the action to find the best of the new releases, throwback classics, custom creations and special editions on show across the globe. It’s Monday, it’s Boot Spotting. Let’s do this…
Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) Nike Mercurial Dream Speed 3
Nike dropped the third instalment of the Dream Speed series over the weekend, and Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the faces of the line alongside Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr, gave them a run out in training ahead of a supposed debut on Sunday night against Napoli. Unfortunately though, that match got abandoned, so we await a first in match appearance.
Suso (Sevilla) PUMA Future Prototype
We're getting to see more and more of what is almost certainly PUMA's next-generation Future, and the latest player to test them out in-match is Sevilla's Suso. Unlike previous looks that we've had, this clearly shows the boot WITH laces. Does this mean that there'll be two options, or that you can opt to not wear laces? Guess we'll have to wait and find out.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) Under Armour Clone Magnetico
As we enter what is Breast Cancer awareness month, there are several gestures occurring throughout the sport to raise awareness and the fight against the illness. One such gesture came on the feet of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who wore a special pink variation of his Under Armour Clone Magnetico in Liverpool's humbling at the hands of Aston Villa this weekend.
Lyle Taylor (Nottingham Forest) Nike Mercurial Superfly Mbappe Rosa
Another player to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness month was Nottingham Forest's Lyle Taylor, who went the whole hog , combining his new pink 'do' with Kylian Mbappe's signature Mercurial Superfly XIII 'Rosa' in his side's 2-1 defeat to Bristol City.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal) Nike Air Zoom Tiempo Legend II
Ainsley Maitland-Niles is one of those players that could have his own dedicated Boot Spotting, with the young England international favouring a variety of throwback classics. But we picked the best of the bunch from this week, when, after playing the first half against Liverpool in the adidas COPA 20.1, he switched into the classic "White/Gold" Nike Air Zoom Tiempo Legend II.
Jose Campana (Levante) PUMA King Platinum
Looks like Neymar is already having an influence for PUMA, with Levante's José Campaña following the Brazilian into the King line for his side's 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid this weekend.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) Nike Phantom GT
Kevin De Bruyne is one of the latest athlete's to put the Nike By You customisation service to good use, personalising his Phantom GT's with hints of sky blue on a white base, tying in with City's traditional home look. However he debuted them alongside their away kit as Pep's men were held to a 1-1 draw with newly promoted Leeds.
Javier Hernandez (LA Galaxy) adidas Nemeziz 19.1 Messi
Little bit of a random one from the MLS, with former Man United and Real Madrid striker, Javier Hernandez lacing up in the adidas Nemeziz Messi 19.1 for the Galaxy's 3-1 defeat to Seattle Sounders.
Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) Nike Mercurial Vapor x Jordan x PSG
Another Arsenal player who's always worth keeping an eye on for his eclectic taste in boots is Alexandre Lacazette, and this week the Frenchman was spotted in the special edition Nike Mercurial Vapor x Jordan x PSG that was produced as part of the 2018 collaboration.
Harvey Elliott (Liverpool) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII Tech Craft
Harvey Elliott continues to enjoy playing the field from a boot perspective, and this week he opted for the Tech Craft edition of the Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII in training.
John Buckley (Blackburn Rovers) Nike Magista Opus I
Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City played out a 0-0 draw on the weekend, and aside from a red card for Lee Tomlin, the highlight was John Buckley's appearance from Rovers' bench in a pair of Nike Magista Opus I from the 'Silver Storm' pack, originally released in 2015.
Jack Wilshere (West Ham) adidas Predator Mutator 20.1
An interesting one from the West Ham training ground, with Jack Wilshere playing in the Adidas Predator Mutator 20.1 from the 'Inflight Pack', only with a notable absence – his boots did not have the signature spikes in the forefoot area. Kind of misses the point then, doesn't it? Just go with a pair of COPA's, yeah?
