We’ve scoured another week of action from across the globe to bring you some of the best boots on the feet of the pros, from new releases and special editions to throwback classics and custom creations. It’s Monday, it’s Boot Spotting, let’s go…
Jamie Maclaren (Melbourne City) Nike Mercurial Vapor 14
Having been unveiled earlier in January, the next generation of Nike Mercurial, known as 'Dragonfly' is now officially available to purchase, but the stars of the global game have got in there ahead of time, including Melbourne City's Jamie Maclaren, who netted in the Vapor 14 in his side's 1-3 loss to Perth Glory.
Bryan Cristante (AS Roma) adidas Predator Accelerator
Prior to the 3-1 win over Verona, Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante was spotted training in the adidas 'Eternal Class' Predator Accelerator. Unfortunately though, he was back in his regular Predator Mutators when he came off the bench in the second half of that match.
Kieran Lee (Bolton Wanderers) adidas Predator Absolute 20
Sticking with the adidas 'Eternal Class' pack, and Bolton's Kieran Lee opted for Predator Absolute in his side's 2-0 win over Leyton Orient on the weekend. The white beauty came as the first part of the 'Eternal Class' drop, landing on Boxing Day alongside a similarly white Copa Mundial.
Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) PUMA Future Z 1.1
Alexandre Lacazette continues to play around with his boot choices in training, and having been spotted in the adidas Predator Freak recently, he's now trained in the PUMA Future Z 1.1. Despite his choices in training, he continues to play in Nike, suggesting that his contract with the Swoosh is not yet up.
Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) adidas X Ghosted+
An interesting spot from Liverpool's win over West Ham, with Roberto Firmino – normally a Nemeziz man, and one of the faces of that silo over recent years – playing in the X Ghosted+ from the adidas 'Superlative Pack'. Taking a leaf out of Salah's book. Will this be a permanent switch?
Etienne Capoue (Villarreal) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX
In the 1-1 draw between Villarreal and Real Sociedad, Étienne Capoue rolled the clock back to 2013 this week with the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX "Electro Purple/Lime Green/Black", which was originally released as part of the Nike "Hi-Viz Pack".
Dara O'Shea (West Brom) adidas Adipure 11Pro
West From and Fulham shared the points in an entertaining 2-2 this weekend, and in that match Baggies defender Dara O-Shea caught the eye with his choice of adidas Adipure 11Pro from 2015. Regularly seen on the feet of Toni Kroos, but not many other places these days...
Rodrigo Bentancur (Juventus) adidas Copa Gloro
Rodrigo Bentancur is usually a staunch Predator man, but this week he was spotted in the lesser-seen in the Copa Gloro, blacked out and with the tongue removed. The move generates a few questions: is Bentancur going to leave adidas? Or does he simply not like the new Predator Freak? Eyes on how this one develops in the coming weeks.
Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) Nike Tiempo Legend IV
Celebrating one year at the club, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes was spotted training in the old familiar Nike Tiempo Legend IV this week. He was back in his 'Dream Speed 003' Mercurial Vapors for the 0-0 draw with Arsenal though.
Leandro Paredes (PSG) Nike Phantom GT NBY
PSG got a new training collection this week, and to tie in with the new look, midfielder Leandro Paredes tested out the Nike By You service, customising his Phantom GT in a corresponding colourway.
Patrick Van Aanholt (Crystal Palace) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII
Another player to test out the Nike By You service this week was Patrick Van Aanholt, who created a unique look for his Mercurial Vapor XIII, combining Crystal Palace's home kit colours to good effect. Just have to hope that late transfer deadline day doesn't come to pass...
