Thomas Delaney Trains In Next-Gen Nike Phantom GT 2

Giving a glimpse at an upcoming release that’s likely to drop later this year, Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Delaney has trained in a blacked out prototype of the next-gen Nike Phantom GT.

The Phantom GT has been unfortunate in its debut year, arriving at a time when little football below the elite level has been played. But that hasn’t taken away from its appeal, with Nike still laying out the special edition treatment on their newest silo, most recently with the 3D release. Despite the fact that it doesn’t seem to have been around for all that long, in most part due to the absence of football, as already mentioned, the next generation is already gearing up for a release, with the prototype being put through its paces by Dortmund’s Danish midfielder, Thomas Delaney.

As is always the case with these blacked out prototypes, it’s hard to see many of the new upgrades. The upper looks to still have a similar Generative Texture, as  the current model, although this may well have been tweaked. It also looks to have the same off-centre lacing system, though again, it looks to have a slight tweak, with more of a curve to it. It’s likely that the Flyknit upper will still be in use also. It’s tough to see the soleplate from these shots, but there’s possibly some work gone into the heel area.

All in all, with the amount of work that went into the original Phantom GT, we’d expect the changes here to be minimal; minor adjustments on what has come before.

Expect the Nike Phantom GT to be spotted more and more as we near a release.
