Ahead of Portugal’s Euro opener against Hungary on Tuesday, Cristiano Ronaldo has been spotted training in what looks to be a new signature Nike Mercurial Superfly colourway. What better time to lift the veil on a new look?
Reigning European champions Portugal have had to wait longer than usual to defend their crown, but they have a squad that is more than capable of doing so, with an abundance of attacking talent. Chief among them is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, and the Juventus man has already caught our eye without even having to kick a ball, stepping out for training in what appears to be a new signature colourway.
It’s been almost a year since Ronaldo had his last signature colourway in the form of the Mercurial Superfly CR7 ‘Safari’, with the Portuguese playing in the latest Dream Speed 4.0 colourway and also the most recent ‘Safari’ edition of the Mercurial. But now it appears that he’s got a new signature colourway, just in time for the start of his nation’s Euro campaign. What timing.
While new looks for the Mercurial are quite common place these days, with players able to create their own personalisation on the Nike By You service, that’s not what we’re looking at here. Ronaldo is way above that. No, what we’re looking at is clearly a new signature edition in CR7’s long line. It sees literal flashes of of crimson and white covering the upper in a lightning bolt design, not unlike that of the lightning Swoosh, while black accents allow the Swoosh on the forefoot and mercurial branding to stand out. Expect Ronaldo to be leading the line in these come Tuesday…
