Another week of fixtures across the globe has provided the required footwear sightings for this week’s Boot Spotting. Plenty of new releases, custom creations, throwback classics and special editions. So who made the cut this week…
Romeo Beckham (Fort Lauderdale CF) PUMA Ultra 1.3
Romeo Beckham made his professional debut this week, lining up alongside Harvey Neville – son of Phil – for Fort Lauderdale CF, Inter Miami's reserve side. You'd think that Beckham would follow in the footsteps of his father by lacing up in Adidas, but the 19 year old defied tradition by wearing the PUMA Ultra 1.3 from the recent 'Eclipse Pack'. Beckham played 79 minutes with the game ending 2-2.
Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen) adidas X Speedflow +
All eyes on Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz after he scored his side's third in a 3-1 win over VfB Stuttgart, with the forward debuting a fresh new colourway for the adidas X Speedflow +. The as-yet unreleased look sees a barrage of colours splashed across the upper. Expect this one to be with us soon.
James Maddison (Leicester City) Next Gen PUMA Future Z
A few players across Europe have given us a first look at the blackout prototype of the next-gen PUMA Future, but none better than James Maddison, who first wore them in training ahead of Leicester's Europa League clash with Napoli, before also wearing them in the match itself and the Premier League game against Brighton. The boots look to have a fairly significant reworking in the upper, while it's not easy to see if the 'Z' soleplate will continue.
Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund) adidas Predator Accelerator
Jude Bellingham is catching headlines for all the right reasons at the moment, and he popped up on our radar this week when he trained in the golden adidas Predator Accelerator ZZ edition, released as part of the '25 years of Predator' pack back in 2019. As Mesut Oil used to do when he laced up in them, Bellingham tucked the iconic red tongue in under his laces. Sadly he did not wear them as he scored in his Champions League match against Besiktas, instead switching back into his COPA .1.
Kevin-Prince Boateng (Hertha BSC) PUMA Future Z 1.2
Celebrating the return to the city of his birth, Kevin-Prince Boateng debuted a specially customised pair of PUMA Future 1.2 for Hertha's game against Fürth. Dubbed 'The Wolf of Panke', the boots feature a white upper with gold details bursting throughout, particularly on the soleplate. Personal details are also featured throughout the design.
Piotr Zielinski (Napoli) Nike Mercurial Superfly 8
Sticking with customisation in celebration of an event, and boot designer Swithadot created some special boots for Piotr Zielinski following the birth of his son, Maksymilian. The design sees the name repeated across the upper, with ‘PZ’ and ‘94’ initials appearing on the heel, following Zielinski's very specific requests.
Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter Milan) Nike Mercurial Superfly VII 'KM'
Hakan Çalhanoğlu has been settling into life at Inter Milan quite well, and in the Champions League match against Real Madrid this week he opted for the bright pink Nike Mercurial Superfly VII Rosa Mbappé signature edition. Caught the eye, but didn't help Inter as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat.
Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) Nike Tiempo Legend 9
Alexandre Lacazette continues to 'play the field' as a free agent, and this week he trained in a blacked out version of the Nike Tiempo Legend 9. Lot of uncertainty in the Frenchman's future.
Nile John (Tottenham Hotspur U23) adidas Predator Accelerator
Back at the turn of the year, Adidas launched the 'Eternal Class' Predator Accelerator – a blackout beauty that brought the iconic silhouette back to pitches. And Nile John was the latest player to lace up in them in his side's game against Blackburn Rovers.
Camilo Sanvezzo (Mazatlan) Nike Phantom GT II
The award for best kit/boot combo this week has to go to Mazatlan's Camilo Sanvezzo, who combined Mazatlán's club kit with the purple hues of the Nike Phantom GT II 'UV' release in the game against Pumas UNAM. The Brazilian scored the opener from the spot, with the game ending 2-2.
Gervinho (Trabzonspor) Nike Mercurial Superfly VI
Remember Gervinho? The former Arsenal man is still plying his trade in Turkey with Trabzonspor, and he came off the bench in this week's 1-0 win over Kasımpaşa in the Nike Mercurial Superfly VI, which was dressed in the OG Mercurial launch colourway, rereleased back in 2018.
Jonathan Dos Santos (LA Galaxy) PUMA King Platinum 21
Classy touch from LA Galaxy captain Jonathan Dos Santos, who laced up in the PUMA King Platinum 21 for his side's 1-1 draw with Houston Dynamo.
