This week’s Boot Spotting sees some next gen ballers carving their own path with their boot choices, along with one player working his way through a whole pack! As ever, that's alongside the best new releases, throwback classics and special editions. Let’s get into it…
Jessica Naz (Tottenham Hotspur Women) PUMA Future Z 1.2
PUMA dropped the 'Origins Pack' this week, but Tottenham Hotspur women's Jessica Nat had already jumped the gun in showing off the Future Z 1.2 in her side's 1-3 loss to Leicester City in the FA Cup. The boots were designed to celebrate the upbringing of young players and the clubs where they started their careers.
James Rodriguez (Colombia) adidas Predator Pulse
James Rodriguez is well known as a Predator fan, and is often seen lacing up in special edition versions of the iconic silo. And for Colombia's World Cup qualifier against Peru, he opted for the Legends Pack Predator Pulse. He checked out his options though...
James Rodriguez (Colombia) adidas F50 Ghosted Adizero
So he may have opted for the Predator Pulse in Colombia's 1-0 loss to Peru, but in training James Rodriguez worked his way through the whole adidas Legends Pack, starting with the F50 Ghosted Adizero.
James Rodriguez (Colombia) adidas adiPure
And completing the adidas Legends Pack, James Rodriguez also trained in the adidas adiPure ahead of his nation's World Cup qualifier with Peru. Got to babe a first in the history of Boot Spotting...
Rafinha (Sao Paulo) adidas Predator Revenge Instinct 94
Sao Paulo's Rafinha whipped out an absolute peach in training this week, lacing up the adidas Predator Revenge Instinct 94. Originally launched in 2014 for the 20th anniversary of the Predator, this was an at -the-time modern day edition of the boot that started it all.
Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) Next Gen New Balance Furon
We've already seen this boot on the feet of Raheem Sterling, but now it's Bukayo Saka's turn to give what certainly appears to be the next generation of Furon a test run. The blackout prototype's most striking feature is the off-centre lacing system, along with a new textured upper.
Romeo Beckham (Inter Miami) PUMA Future Z 1.2
Romeo Beckham chose to carve his own path when he signed with PUMA recently. The next-gen baller wore the 'Under the Lights' Future Z 1.2 as he made a preseason appearance for Inter Miami.
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. (Manchester United) adidas Predator Freak +
Another next gen star in the making that's not following own his father's footsteps is Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., who was spotted wearing adidas Predator Freak + boots when kicking about with his old man. Ronaldo Sr. has been Nike's key athlete over the last decade, having signed a lifetime deal with the American brand.
Lyle Taylor (Birmingham City) Nike Mercurial GS 360
Lyle Taylor put Birmingham City ahead at Pride Park against Derby to mark a dream debut, and he did so in a custom pair of Nike Mercurial GS360.
Eric Garcia (Barcelona) adidas COPA Sense +
Rare to see a brand's blackout boots getting a run out, but Barcelona's Eric Garcia slipped into the 'Edge of Darkness' COPA Sense for training this week.
Mauro Icardi (PSG) Nike Tiempo Legend 9
Another lowkey colour update getting a look in is last year's Nike 'Renew Pack', with PSG's Mauro Icardi opting for the Tiempo Legend 9 in training recently.
Phillipe Coutinho (Brazil) Nike Mercurial Vapor 13
Coutinho is back on everyone's radar following his January switch back to the Premier League with Aston Villa. He's been wearing the 'Blueprint' Mercurial Vapor 14, but this week he was spotted on the training ground in the older model 'Daybreak Pack' Vapor 13. Does this mean his days with Nike are numbered? Or are they just his favourite old boots? Have to say the Blueprint Merc goes so well with the Selecao training kit...
