Enzo Fernandez Wears Customised Nike Mercurials From Jordan Dawson

Once again flexing his creative muscles, artist Jordan Dawson has produced a special pair of customised boots for Enzo Fernandez, which the Chelsea midfielder wore over the weekend in the game against Aston Villa.

Jordan Dawson is fast carving himself a reputation as the go-to guy for elite level professional players that want to add a little extra flair to their footwear. He’s recently created boots Darwin Nunez, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Alexis Mac Allister to name a few, and now he’s moved on to the latter’s international teammate, Enzo Fernandez. For this, he’s embellished a Nike Mercurial Vapor with special details that nod to the Argentinian midfielder’s stature as a World Cup winner.

Fernandez wore the customised boots in the 0-1 loss to Aston Villa on the weekend, and it adds further fuel to the speculative fire surrounding his brand affiliation going forward. Fernandez has recently been spotted in a variety of Nike models, moving away from his regular Phantom GX as well as – and this is most telling – a pair of PUMA Ultras. That last move suggests that his time with Nike could be nearing an end, so now he’s having fun with his footwear, recruiting Dawson to put a bespoke take on some Mercurial Vapors.

The boots look to be Mercurial Vapor XIII, possibly from the ‘Nuovo White’ pack, originally released in late 2019, although the soleplate doesn’t seem to be split like on that model, so that could be a separate customisation. The heel features a fading blue diamond geometric pattern, with the lighter blue combining with the white base to nod to the Argentina national colours, and the darker blue linking to Chelsea. Gold details appear on the Swoosh outline, three stars (representing Argentina’s three World Cup wins) and heel additions, with “AFA” on the left and “E8” on the right.
