Ian Maatsen Offers Closer Look At Next-Gen adidas Predator

Following on from our first sighting of the next generation Adidas Predator on the feet of Aaron Ramsdale, we now get a closer look at some of the details of the boot, courtesy of Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen.

Over the weekend we got our first proper look at the next generation of adidas’s iconic silo, the Preadator, courtesy of Aaron Ramsdale, who wore a whiteout version in training. What instantly caught the eye was the return of that classic fold over tongue, but the Arsenal stopper also trialled a tongueless variation, and it’s that boot that we now get a better look at, with Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen slipping them on for a training session, again in the whiteout presentation.

This time we get a much better look at the rubber fin execution, which looks like it’s been lifted straight off of the Precision and Mania era boots. On Maatsen’s laceless versions, the branding rides down the lateral side of the forefoot, with the rubber elements in their traditional placing on the medial side. Whilst the Mutator and Freak models were a radical new take on the Predator franchise, this boot looks how a modern day Predator should, capturing the essence of the silo, but bringing it into a progressive space for the modern game. Exciting times.
