Plenty going on across the globe to feed this week’s Boot Spotting, from AFCON to a Barcelona reunion. As always, loads of new releases, special editions and bespoke beauties to get stuck into.
Luis Suarez (Inter Miami) PUMA Future Ultimate 7
In case you'd missed it, Luis Suarez has signed for Inter Miami, and he lined up alongside fellow Barcelona Alumni in Messi, Busquets and Jordi Alba for the MLS side's preseason friendly against El Salvador, and he did so in the new PUMA Future 7 from the 'Phenomenal Pack'.
Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) PUMA Ultra Ultimate
Sticking with the PUMA Phenomenal pack, and Antoine Griezmann scored an outrageous extra time goal in the Ultra Ultimate against Real Madrid no less, the third in what would finish 4-2 in the Copa Del Rey clash.
Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) Skechers SKX_01
Harry Kane's Bayern Munich suffered a rare defeat in the Bundesliga over the weekend at the hands of Werder, with the England man unable to find the net as he debuted the Skechers SKX_01 from the Diamond Ice pack.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal) Skechers Razor
Completing the Skechers Diamond Pack line up, Arsenal's Zinchenko was seen wearing the Razor in the Gunner's emphatic 5-0 win over Crystal Palace. Those sharp eyed amongst us will notice that both the Razor and SKX_01 worn by the pros feature block branding unlike the outlined version that's available for retail, and that's simply so that it stands out more on pitch.
Feras Albrikan (Saudi Arabia) Nike Air Max Mercurial Vapor Tn
Nike's hype drop that kicked off the year for the Swoosh continues to catch the eye, and it continues to look photoshopped on to every player wearing it.
Domingos Macandza (Mozambique) adidas X Crazyfast Bugatti
Mozambique were able to get a hard-fought draw against Egypt in their group B opener at the Africa Cup of Nations, and their right back, Domingos, caught the eye with his choice of adidas X Crazyfast Bugatti – a hard pair of boots to get hold of given there were only 99 pairs made available. Brave man to wear them.
Omar Mendoza (Queretaro) adidas Predator 30
Similarly to the last entrant on this list, Omar Mendoza opted to wear a limited edition boot in the Predator 30 in Queretaro's 2-0 loss to Club America. With only 1,994 pair of these produced, there's no way we'd have worn a pair if we'd got our hands on them... they'd be safely on the mantlepiece.
Raheem Sterling (Chelsea) New Balance Tekela v4+
Intersting to see Raheem Sterling playing in Chelsea's last match in theg New Balance Tekela v4+ rather than the Furon v7+. Sterling has always been a Furon man since his switch to New Balance, and while there was a time when it seemed no one was wearing the Tekela, it's clearly gaining favour.
Paulo Dybala (AS Roma) adidas Predator 24 Laceless
Looks like there's a lot of change at Roma, and amongst that it looks like Paulo Dybala has made the in-house switch at adidas from COPA to Predator, with the forward having been wearing the new Predator 24 laceless edition in the last couple of matches.
Pape Gueye (Senegal) adidas Predator Accuracy +
AFCON 2024 hasn't disappointed so far when it comes to colourful performances (many meanings there), and that's exemplified by Pape Gueye's beautifully customised adidas Predator Accuracy boots, worn as Senegal brushed Cameroon aside 3-1.
Daniele De Rossi (AS Roma) adidas Copa Gloro
Remember we mentioned change at AS Roma? Well, Daniele De Rossi made his return to the club, this time as manager, following the departure of Jose Mourinho. And in his first training session, he wore the adidas Copa Gloro in "Core Black/White". Statement.
