Alves makes surprise return to the first generation Nike Mercurial Superfly as he joins up with Barcelona squad.
Dani Alves returned to training with FC Barcelona yesterday rocking a blackout pair of his original Nike Mercurial Superfly football boots - how we’d all like a pair of those. Wearing a blackout pair of football boots is a footballer’s way of putting themselves in the shop window for boot sponsors. The former Nike athlete switched the Swoosh for the Three Stripes in 2010 after signing a four year endorsement deal with adidas and now it looks like Alves is yet to negotiate a renewed deal.
The Brazilian was a Superfly regular throughout the 2009-10 season, wearing a multitude of colourways from the collection. After signing with adidas, Alves made the natural switch to the F50 adizero before becoming one of the brand’s lead assets for the Nitrocharge range. The full-back never really settled into the adidas Nitrocharge, returning to the F50 soon after before going on to wear the adizero “Battle Pack” throughout the 2014 World Cup.
