Roberto Carlos teams up with Umbro to launch new campaign.
Roberto Carlos scored some incredible goals during his career, most notably the free-kick against France at Le Tournoi in 1997 wearing a pair of Umbro Speciali boots. Inspired by this iconic goal, Umbro has teamed up with the Brazilian World Cup winner to find a new generation of golaços.
The competition calls on football players across the world to capture and share their own amazing goals via Umbro’s special Golaço app. Five winners will be selected by Roberto Carlos who’ll enjoy the ultimate Brazilian football experience courtesy of Umbro.
Up for grabs are return flights to Brazil for you and a plus one, an exclusive football skills session with Roberto Carlos, the opportunity to learn to play the Samba way at Clube Atlético Paranaense, one of the best football facilities in Brazil and full professional training kit and boots from Umbro.
Speaking with Umbro, Roberto Carlos said: “I still get asked about that goal and how I scored it. People have tried to analyse it but there is no explanation. It shouldn't have had that much swerve but I knew it was going in.
“A golaço can come in many forms and I’m looking forward to picking the winners to join me in Brazil – the land of football. This is a big year for Brazil and this competition is also a great way to start Umbro’s 90th birthday celebrations" added Carlos.
In conjunction with the competition, Umbro are releasing five exclusive Roberto Carlos video interviews the first of which is below. In teh series Carlos talks about growing up in Brazil, his early career, life as a ‘Galactico’ and Brazil’s chances in the World Cup.
