Once again taking aim at the weird and the wonderful, Weird Euros are back in the world of beermats, producing a range of coasters celebrating weird, funny and esoteric moments from European Championship football history, all in the name of raising money for grassroots football charities.
Back in 2018, the ‘Weird’ team brought us the ‘Weird World Cup x Football Beyond Borders’ beermat collection, for which they invited leading designers, illustrators and creatives to celebrate their favourite weird and wonderful moments from previous World Cups, which were sold and made around £20,000 for charity. Now the team have been at it again, rebranding as ‘Weird Euros’ to do essentially the same thing, only this time through a EUROS focused lens.
Working with a mix of larger named artists like David Shrigley, Chris Simpson and Pentagram and a number of incredible up and coming artists such as Robyn Nicol, Israel Kujore and Isobel Mehta, the collection aims to raise money for grassroots football charities like Goals 4 Girls under the adidas Football Collective, who aim to open up the game to everyone, everywhere, and use football as a catalyst for change in local communities.
It’s the perfect way to dress out your abode for the EURO 2020 final, all while supporting a worthy cause. Can’t ask for much more than that.
