LA Galaxy Reveal Custom Rose Bowl Edition Home Jerseys

To commemorate the club’s season opener, the LA Galaxy & The Football Gal have created five team-signed Rose Bowl edition home jerseys, which are being auctioned off with the proceeds benefiting The LA Galaxy Foundation.

LA Galaxy are set to play LAFC in their 2023 MLS season opener, with the Rose Bowl Stadium set to be the location for this special El Tráfico, as announced back in September 2022. It’ll be the first match between the city rivals to be held at the 90,888-capacity stadium, and If they sell out the stadium in Pasadena it would set an attendance record for an MLS match. And such an occasion needs a something special to mark it, and so The Galaxy turned to bespoke customiser and designer, @thefootballgal, aka Diana Al Shammari.

The Galaxy, who called the Rose Bowl home from their start in 1996 until their move to Carson in 2003, have recruited Shammari to put her own unique stamp on the current home jersey, embellishing the shirts with her signature floral decorations – in this instance some rather appropriate roses. She has created five special edition, hand embroidered "Rose Bowl Edition City of Dreams" home jerseys in total, and they have been modelled by Chicharito Hernández, Martín Cáceres, Séga Coulibaly, Gastón Brugman, and Jonathan Klinsmann before being signed put up for auction.

Shammari last sprung onto our radar when she was recruited by PUMA to put her spin on the 2020 Italy Renaissance kits, but she has also previously created unique designs for Italian, English, Japanese, and Brazilian teams, as well as American clubs such as the Philadelphia Union and Angel City FC.
