The Italian Football Federation have given their brand a re-design ahead of the final round of 2018 World Cup Qualifiers. The new national team logo replaces the crest that has represented the team since their World Cup success in 2006.
Italy take on Macedonia in Turin on Friday, with the new modern crest set to feature on the 2018 Italian kits for the first time. The new PUMA home strip is nearing a release and the new logo should coincide with Italy securing qualification for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, whether that be directly or through the play-offs. That's the plan anyway.
To help launch the new crest the Italian F.A have lit up the iconic Mole Antonelliana to celebrate the return of the Azzurri to Turin. It'll remain lit up until kick off against Macedonia on Friday night when the logo will then be transferred onto the shirts of the Italy players.
The new crest is more of a redesign than a complete overhaul. The Italian F.A have opted to keep all of the previous features, including the four gold stars, Italian flag and circular logo, and reshuffled their pack to create a more modern crest.
