A theatre of football in every sense, the home of Barcelona is already a beacon of beautiful football. In a complete reworking, the plans for the new Camp Nou are as you would expect ― a world beating metropolis of fashionable football.
Having opened the architectural project to tender, a collection of 45 esteemed companies submitted proposals. The competition unquestionably fierce, it was Japanese firm ikken Sekkei + Pascual i Ausió Arquitectes that were carefully selected. Upon the outcome, the club explained what made these innovators the stand out choice.
"The Nikken Sekkei + Pascual i Ausió Arquitectes proposal stands out for being open, elegant, serene, timeless Mediterranean and democratic. It is also notable for its relationship with the environment, providing depth, creating shadows and making members the stars of the facade and of the open area at all times. The proposal presents a very subtle attempt to intervene in the environment to facilitate circulation and achieve diverse urban usage in the Barça Campus and guarantees a clear and safe construction."
No doubts this will be the envy of the global game ― an utter palace that will see these football titans go from football powerhouse to mega structured lords of the land. Scheduled to open for the 2019/20 season, you can find out more info, here.
