Football and fashion collide as part of a creative exploration by Elliott Wilcox that looks at the place in contemporary culture where the threaded world of football shirts live.
His open question kicks off the objective behind this personal project. "Are football kits cool or only for hooligans and kids?" It's a question that has clearly been answered with this series of imagery. Adding further narrative to this set of images, Elliott produced them with a focus on couples as the tournament starts to flow.
"I believe that football fashion has evolved from its stigmatised past and is now inspirational and positive. With the rise in sports fashion, brands such as Nike, adidas and Umbro have adopted for minimal design and technological advances to cater for contemporary fashion culture. This can also be seen and said for football, in its kits, boots and collaborations between fashion and sports brands such as adidas and Palace who doth their skate caps and classically designed football shirts and apparel."
