If you want a lesson on how to make a 0-5 defeat look good, just ask Andrea Pirlo. It's a game NYCFC would rather forget though, with Toronto FC steam rolling on opposition surfaces. The playoffs looks mighty fitting for these gents dressed in red who are ringing the right alarms.
This was a game Patrick Vieira's men went into already facing the challenge of making up for a 2-0 defeat in the first leg. Back on home soil in front of rapturous fans and with the likes of Pirlo, Lampard and Villa all in the mix, it's one that you thought would pack some serious power. Alas, it was Toronto FC who were quicker off the mark and controlled a game praised for its tactical precision.
Giovinco, with his football inspired tattoos and big hitting strike partner in the shape of Jozy Altidore, were able to run riot as the goal mouth descended. With the first goal coming after 6 minutes, it wasn't the start NYCFC were hoping for. Backed by committed fans they resiliently kept at it, but it wasn't long after before Toronto FC would find a way through another four times.
Montreal Impact lie in wait for Toronto FC. Two teams ready to go toe-to-toe with momentum packing motivation. Shift aside international break, this can't come soon enough. Fight and win.
