While the club scene heads into a summer holiday, the international game is back gaining momentum and in the shape of the prestigious, invite only Toulon Tournament, England are looking to maintain their title defending status.
Already weeks in, this tournament sees the brightest young talent descend on the South of France and with England, they've found themselves steam rolling the event with style. This final group fixture saw the young side match up against Japan following a 7-1 win over Cuba and 1-0 victory against Angola. Looking for that third win and a spot in the semi-finals, they followed form and duly dispatched the Japanese side taking the points and finishing the game 2-1.
An impressive way to go through games, the side that have been assembled on this stage are living up to a strong reputation that is being built behind the scenes as part of the England set up. Under 19s-20s and Under 21s tournament this summer means that the side that are representing England here have stepped into big boots though are filling them fantastically. A semi-final now awaits on Thursday and the experimental side are shining under the spotlight.
A strong showing of style too, the next generation are owning it with a plethora of on pitch picks. From PUMA's evoPower to the adidas Glitch, the choices are on point. Well played, lads.
