As entertaining as a preseason friendly gets, Barcelona and Juventus put on a show for the thousands of fans that gathered at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, and thankfully we were there to capture it for our ‘Framed’ series.
Barcelona v Juventus is a match up normally reserved for the Champions League, but fans stateside were able to get a flavour of the fixture as the clubs went head to head at the Cotton Bowl as part of their preseason preparations. Barcelona came into the game unbeaten in their four games so far, while Juventus had won their only fixture to date, against Guadalajara. Despite Robert Lewandowski starting for Barca, it was Ousmane Dembele and Moise Kean who stole the show with two goals a-piece for their respective sides in what was an entertaining 2-2.
Barcelona now boast a forward line capable of putting fear into any defensive lineup. The arrival of Lewandowski and Raphina alongside Aubameyang, Depay and Ansu Fati is formidable. But it was Ousmane Dembele, new contract with the Catalans recently signed, who stole the show with two stunning finishes after tying the Juve back line in knots.
Moise Kean struck back twice for the Old Lady to ensure honours were even.
The extreme heat meant it was a tough match physically, but the 58,000 fans in attendance were satisfied with the show they saw. Barca’s winning run in preseason came to an end, but as the sun set across the Cotton Bowl, it cast a new light over the golden away kit, showing just how good it is as well as hinting at a promising season ahead for the La Liga side.
