One down, one to go. Inter Milan secured the Coppa Italia on the weekend, with a double from Lautaro Martinez sealing a 2-1 win over Fiorentina. Now check out another perspective on the action and celebrations as the match becomes the focus in the latest instalment in our ‘Framed’ series.
The stage was set at Rome’s Stadio Olimipco, as Inter Milan looked to defend their Coppa Italia title against Fiorentina. It was a first chance at silverware for both teams, a starter for the main course that is major European finals next month – Fiorentina going up against West Ham in the Europa Conference Final, and Inter facing the daunting prospect of halting Manchester City’s determined charge for the Champions League crown. But it was also the first time that these two prestigious Italian teams had met in a major domestic final.
Lautaro Martínez is Inter's only player to have appeared in all of the 53 Nerazzurri games played this season, and he repaid the faith that Simone Inzaghi has had in him. His brace came after Fiorentina had taken the lead in the third minute, shocking the holders into action. And Martinez is in such form right now that anything that goes near him in the box seems to turn to gold. He has a career-best 27 goals across all competitions for Inter this season, having also helped Argentina win the World Cup in December, and now with the Coppa Italia added to the Italian Supercup, won earlier this season, his and Inter’s focus is on Manchester City.
