As the ice sheets the pitch and the ground staff go to work, our latest stopping point on the 'Residence' journey takes in the alluring sight of the 'Stadion Wroclaw'. A crisp beauty that stands tall four and half years after playing host as one of the key venues for EURO 2012, step inside and enjoy its sharp lines and symmetry.
This stadium is beautiful. There's no two ways about it. By night it glows a powerful green though by day its frosted finish sits silent waiting for that next fixture. Its residents, Śląsk Wrocław, are a well travelled side who have had their fair share of adventure across the Polish leagues as well as wider Europe. Currently sporting a 10th place position in the Ekstraklasa (Polish top flight), the club are currently striking more of a mid-table birth while their stadium commands an elite character ― an imposing 42,000 capacity megastructure that was opened in 2011 to be precise.
On average Śląsk tend to see closer to 10,000 people take place for an match day. On one hand, that shades a quarter of the stadium though on the other, their vocal nature means it's a passionate crowd that very much make themselves known. Add to the pot the regular run of international fixtures that this home takes in, when the capacity edges closer to the fuller side, we have ourselves a brimming cauldron of supreme support.
Photogenic is another way to describe 'Stadion Wroclaw'. A towering roof that unquestionably fits the bill, this is a purpose-built football stadium and a curve-ball blessing for any stadium hopper. Why not eh?
