As Alexis Sanchez gets set for a Manchester United debut in the Westcountry, we're taking a look around Yeovil Town's Hush Park. Surrounded by country, agriculture and cider. Yeovil Town is positioned in a place truly unique unto itself. It may not be a 50,000 seater new age castle but it is slabbed in character and paved with charm.
This is a place that sits a modest 27 years old. Built and opened in 1990, in human years it may perhaps be hitting a pinnacle of the party days. This mid-to-late twenties bloomer has seen all the sights - promotions, relegations, and FA Cup fairy tale fixtures. What's more, as you go from Main Stand corridors to pitchside concourse, this humble playground starts to come alive.
A club that is very much backed by it's local population - Yeovil and its emblazoned green carpets will welcome Manchester United new boy Alexis Sanchez on Friday night in the FA Cup – a player that could buy the League Two club with one weeks wage. Not that Sanchez will be thrown off, he's a man that comes from humble beginnings, and will no doubt embrace the throwback dugouts and tiny dressing room.
A capacity of 9,565, of which 5,212 is seated and one end (the away end off course) is exposed to the elements - this is a place of pure football fandom. A reminder of why it's a shame the pint can't make its way pitchside in the modern British game; under the lights on a Friday night or as the sun beams on a Saturday, Huish Park has good spirits written all over.
Go on the Glovers.
