Our next installment of stadium seduction comes via a trip to the Philips Stadion, home to a Dutch powerhouse and 22 time Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven.
There's something distinctively British about the Philips Stadion with its intimidatingly steep stands looming over the pitch and tiers of architecture upgraded over time to leave a beautiful mis-match of old and modern characteristics, both of which are shaken by the thunderous acoustics produced by the proud locals on Champions League nights.
Having gone through several expansions over its time, wooden stands have been replaced and reworked like a beautiful jigsaw of electronic proportions, it's come together like a circuit board of success. Unconventional by sight but intriguing for sure.
A two tiered ground that has seen many renovations, it finally had all four corners of the stadium completed in 2002 and sits proudly with a capacity of just over 35,000. Sparkles of silver, it's a megaplex of multitudes as one sections fades another rises - the never ending charm is distinctive and desirable. Quite simply, a must for groundhoppers.
Welcomed in with sincere character, the home of PSV Eindhoven is a jewel in the cities crown, a population of 216k it's one to be celebrated, one to be treasured and most certainly one to be enjoyed as the evenings fade into night. Floodlights booming, it's a belter.
