Travis Scott and Nike Bring Mad Maximus To Barcelona For One Night Only

Goosebumps in Barcelona as Nike and Travis Scott touch down in BCN for the latest Mad Maximus event. The best street ballers across Europe came together to compete between the concrete walls of Parc del Fòrum, whilst surprise appearances from Barça legends and a secret Travis concert made it a night to remember.

Barcelona went full Sicko Mode on Saturday night as the Travis Scott x Nike ‘Mad Maximus’ event was brought to the city to celebrate the latest collab between FC Barcelona and Spotify. Although El Clásico was the main dish of the weekend, this appetiser fed plenty. We were lucky enough to be in attendance for the event, as we showed up to an iconic location to watch Parc del Forum turn into Europe’s biggest street football venue for one night and one night only, whilst legendary Barça players watched on.

Located between the concrete walls of Parc del Fòrum, Nike dropped in with all the goods: food trucks, drinks, a DJ playing tunes and of course, the one-of-a-kind cage. Stooped in Cactus Jack x Nike branding, the event was nothing but vibes – plenty of tricks and flicks, fans cheering on, and the man himself, Travis Scott, making an appearance. It was pure Utopia as Travis made his entrance, riling up the fans ready for the semi-finals of the tournament. Inspired by Nike's secret tournament ad from 2002, the event consisted of short 2v2 games, with no rules and absolutely no mercy as they went toe-to-toe to own the streets. Mad Maximus is becoming a familiar arena, with this being the third time Nike and Travis link up for the event, after touching down previously at ComplexCon and Coachella. This time, Barcelona showed how they do it down in Europe – and they go hard. Each player was wearing bespoke T90 garms, more reason to believe the Total 90 is well and truly back so Nike, thank you for that.

Watching on from the crowds was some of the most iconic players to ever wear Blaugrana, including the brick wall duo of Gerard Piqué and Puyol, as well as the face of Nike T90 – Edgar Davids. Now, it wasn't enough for these legends to just be present, fans were Stargazing when all three stepped into the cage to relive their playing years for one short game. But it couldn't be a Barça reunion without Ronaldinho could it? The crowd watched on in awe as the goat himself strolled into the cage to bring that Brazilian flair to the tournament. Iconic.

The Houston rapper made the most of his time in Barcelona by throwing in another gift for fans, a secret concert located at Les Tres Xemeneies with the help of FC Barcelona sponsor Spotify. A first for both Travis, who had never performed in BCN, and the location, which had never had a live concert performed there. Travis did what Travis does best – get the crowd lit. An invite-only performance, the crowd was made up of Scott's top Spotify listeners in Barcelona, alongside Nike and Spotify guests who came together to witness a short set of hit songs – and they definitely hit. Celebrating the latest Cactus Jack sponsor for the El Clásico, Travis was of course wearing items from the Cactus Jack x Barça collab including the stunning jersey inspired by the iconic 2001 jersey. Tick, tick, tick – it's ticking all the boxes.

You know all the Barça legends had to make an appearance for the concert, as well as current star Joules Kounde, Hollywood actor Terry Crews, and none other than Thierry Henry. What a group. The FC Barcelona x Nike x Spotify x Travis Scott collab is a gift from the gods, and proves the game has never been more alive than now. The standard has been set, let's see what's next to come...
