T-2 days. Kick-off is almost here. The start of the Women’s Euro 2025 is fast approaching, and the hype has never been more alive. Ahead of the tournament, we have rounded up the best up-and-coming ballers you need to watch out for this summer. They’re young, tekky and utterly fearless, ready to take Switzerland by storm.
As the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 approaches, anticipation is building for what promises to be a showcase of world-class talent and unforgettable moments. From already stablished stars trying to cement their legacy to rising talents ready to make their mark, this tournament will be decided by the players that can lead their country to glory. With powerhouses like Spain, England, and Germany bringing stacked squads, and emerging nations eager to prove a point, we are spotlighting some players we think are set to shout their name for the world to hear this summer.
Vicky López – Spain/Barcelona
If you don't know this name by now then get out from the rock you are living under. Vicky López's age does not speak for the experience this baller holds. Only 18 but as calm, collected and clinical as they come. Debut in Liga F at 15, then went on to win five trophies with Barcelona, and she's not even close to being finished. López became the youngest player to ever make their debut for Spain's women's team last year, then went on to win the Nations League on her second appearance. Not a bad start. She later finished 2024 with the highest of honours, winning the Golden Girl award. Golden is an understatement. You know this girl is a baller when Lionel Messi has hand-picked her to rep his own signature boots, recognition from the GOAT isn't easy to come by. López is set to be one of the brightest stars at the Euro this summer, sparking creativity and breaking lines, whether she is starting or not. Be prepared to see this Golden Girl run riot in Switzerland this summer.
Aggie Beever-Jones – England/Chelsea
The young England star has burst onto the scene this season. After multiple loan spells and struggles to secure her place, Beever-Jones has played a crucial part in Chelsea's success during the 24/25 season. A player who, a month ago, no one probably would've expected to make the England squad for the summer, however a first half hattrick tends to change that pretty quickly. Not many players can say they've scored a hatty for their country at Wembley, so don't underestimate this baller. Confidence is high and she is ready to help defend England's title.
Sydney Schertenleib – Switzerland/Barcelona
An up-and-coming young superstar. Only 18 years old but the stats say differently. Killing it at senior level in Switzerland since 15 and earned herself a move to the best team in the world – FC Barcelona. A rare Swiss talent turns full Blaugrana. Slotted straight into the team like it was nothing and has been a crucial part of the back-end of their treble winning season, dominating Liga F and narrowly missing out in the Champions League final. She will be the home nations shining star during the Euro this summer as they push for a successful campaign.
Carrie Jones – Wales/ IFK Norrköping
Carrie Jones. International debut at 15 and now a Welsh legend at 21. Led her country to their first ever major tournament, scoring that goal in Dublin which secured Wales' place in Switzerland this summer. Only fools would rule out the Welsh already, they may be in the group of death but they are here to go to war and Carrie Jones is standing right on the front line. Whether she starts or comes on as a sub, we are expecting Jones to be the catalyst to Wales' spark this summer.
Esmee Brugts – Netherlands/Barcelona
Esmee Brugts is far more than a rising star, she’s a multi-dimensional asset with the creativity, technical ability, and maturity to shape the Netherlands’ campaign this summer. She's young, she's fast, and she's direct. A nightmare for fullbacks. Brugts has already proven she can deliver on the big stage, scoring in the 2023 World Cup as well as in the Nations League. Already playing in three major tournaments, Esmee also brings a tonne of experience to the team, which is crazy to say for a 21 year old, whether it is with her national team or club side. Esmee could take this strong Netherlands side to the next level this summer.
Grace Clinton – England/Manchester United
Clinton's run of form during the lead up to this tournament suggests she will be a crucial player in England's attempts to defend their title. She can comfortably slot into both the number 8 and 10 positions, providing either a more defensive or attacking outlet. During friendlies Clinton has proved she is more than ready for this step up as she arrives for her first major tournament with England. Bringing a dynamic and creative look to the midfield, expect to see some match-winning moments from this baller.
Ellen Wangerheim – Sweden/Hammarby IF
Ellen Wangerheim is poised to be one of the breakout stars of this year's Women's Euro. She could be the dark horse this summer, not yet fully recognised for her talent. She has lit up the Damallsvenskan, bagging 10 goals in 10 – silly stats. Her calmness in the box and strong positioning makes her a natural fit for high pressure games, therefore perfect for tournament football. Now, Sweden are no joke, maybe not as hyped as England, Spain, and Germany, but their goal threats and youthful spark is extremely intimidating. Watch out for Wangerheim.
Wieke Kaptein – Netherlands/Chelsea
Our next young baller to watch out for is Wieke Kaptein. She could light up the Euros with Netherlands this summer. Her relentless work off the ball, defensive pressing, and stamina make her a vital engine for the Oranje midfield. One of those players who can easily fly under the radar whilst still displaying unbelievable performances week-in week-out. Despite just turning 19, Kaptein has racked up over 30 WSL games during Chelsea's Treble winning season – demonstrating her ability to deliver in big moments. This baller is about to be a driving force for a promising, young Dutch team.
Salma Paralluelo – Spain/Barcelona
The former sprinter brings heaps of electrifying speed and stamina to this Euros this summer. With her pace, finishing, and big-game pedigree, she is destined to make or break this tournament for Spain. We all know about the ridiculous midfield of Bonmati and Putellas, but don't go forgetting about Paralluelo as she poses just as much of a threat as any of the more well-known ballers in this powerful Spain team. She is a strategic weapon, a cheat code. Defenders will be trembling when Salma starts running at them. Frightening pace and even more terrifying finishing.
Lea Schüller – Germany/Bayern Munich
Germany are serious threat to England's defending title this year, and Lea Schüller is at the core of their attacking play. The Bayern Munich forward has filled the void of German legend Alexandra Popp – a goalscoring machine – since her retirement. With an outstanding domestic season (11 goals and 3 assists in 22 games), Schüller arrives in Switzerland with plenty of form and confidence, making her dangerous. Europe already know what this baller can do, as she's contributed goals in previous major tournaments for Germany, but they've never seen her in this era. If the Germans have a succesfull run in the tournament, we wouldn't be surprised to see Lea fighting for Golden Boot.
The Women's Euro 2025 kicks off in Switzerland Wednesday 2 July, see you there...
