Barney Artist Gives SoccerBible His World Cup Playlist

Barney Artist is a rapper and hip-hop artist from East London with a lot of love for the game. A big England fan who has shared the rollercoaster ride through the years, it was the Michael Owen goals of '98 married with the majestic moves of Korea of Japan in 2002 that stand out in the memory. Though with 2018 looking so strong, he's sure there's only one place football is heading this summer...

Providing us with a playlist for the summer inspired by the World Cup, Barney picks out the best from the rest as the World Cup final week looms. Explaining the playlist, Barney Artist tell us...

"I’m a rapper by trade so music and football have always gone hand-in-hand for me.. so whether it was crying on the floor listening to Nelly and Kelly “Dilemma” in primary school in 2002 because Ronaldinho ruined my entire existence with that flukey freekick or me and my boys blasting Chumbawamba - “Tubthumping” in the P.E changing rooms to make sure we wouldn’t run scared from the year 9’s in the legendary “Year 8’s vs Year 9’s Football extravaganza”, music has helped me get through my footballing triumphs and failures.

This playlist could cause serious nostalgia, tears, elation, snot bubbles and the possibility of texting your Ex."

The Playlist:

Chumbawamba - 'Tubthumping'
"Dudley Jenkins in Year 9 wouldn’t be able to stop a Year 8 Barney after listening to this anthem before the Year 9’s vs Year 8’s match.. still pumps me up."

Ini Kamoze - 'Here comes the Hotstepper'
"Uncle Wilson blares this one before a five a side game and he would make Ronaldo look like a sloth when he enters the pitch.. everyone needs this confidence booster."

Nelly and Kelly - "Dilemma"
"It’s football day.. you are excited.. but you promised your other half you’d go “out” for their birthday.. this is what you listen to in the car whilst you pining over the beautiful game."

Bon Jovi - 'Livin' on a Prayer'
"It’s gone to penalties.. grab the hand of the person next to you.. clutch on to them with every fibre of your being and pray..."

Stormzy - 'Big For Your Boots'
"You think I’m scared of Sweden in the Quarter Finals?! Sweden Meet Harry Kane.. you may refer to him as “Dad” coz he’s sending you lot all over the park.. DON’T GET BIG FOR YOUR BOOTS."

The Lightning Seeds - 'Three Lions'
"No. Need. For. Any. EXPLANATION!!!"

Las Ketchup - 'The Ketchup Song'
"Half time.. Burger time.. Ketchup time.. but it’s The World Cup so singing it in Spanish makes you extremely cultured.. extra points if you do the dance as well."

Mungo Jerry - 'In The Summertime'
"Studies show that in England every 3 and a half minutes someone will come up to you and say “They said this is the hottest Summer we’ve ever had!!”.. this song is tribute to that."

Queen - 'We Are The Champions'
"When we win the World Cup.. please believe Queen Liz will be on the roof of Buckingham Palace wrapped in nothing but an England Flag belting this one out whilst Charles is juggling a couple of the corgis."

Elton John - 'Don’t Go Breaking My Heart'
"Listen boys.. we haven’t always believed in you and we apologise for that.. we’ve been hurt in the past.. but we love you and we know you can do it.. Don’t break our hearts."
