The name Kluivert must carry with it a certain weight of expectation in the footballing world. But you wouldn’t think it when you look at Justin, who is making his own strides, independent of his father’s legacy. As a second generation baller in the modern day game, the young Dutchman is switched on to style, and he recently made the choice to sign for adidas in what is sure to be an arrangement that suits both parties.
In a strong meeting of creative minds, we sat Justin down with Jefferson Osei, one of the founders of Dutch clothing brand Daily Paper – of whom Kluivert is a big fan. Both creatives who are setting trends with a love for the game, the two share a friendship based on a mutual respect for one another and the respective paths they are carving. Sitting down for SoccerBible Sessions Episode 2 - available to view in full on our IGTV channel - they talk all things from style and inspiration to life in Rome and the decision to sign for adidas.
The latest stop in Kluivert’s journey has seen him land in the capital of Italy, where he plys his trade marauding down the left wing for AS Roma. It’s somewhere that Jefferson Osei has also found himself on regular occasions as part of the fashion industry, in what is yet another parallel in the pair's stories.
A meeting made in Amsterdam that's taken in Rome along the way, Osei gets into what makes Justin the man he is, standing himself apart from convention and blazing his own trail. This is Kluivert, but not as you knew him.
