The Dial Up Episode # 1 | Todd Cantwell

The term “unprecedented times” starts to sound cliché, but it’s a fact, and it’s something that we’re all caught up in. And by all, that includes those superstars that we’re accustomed to seeing on the pitches of the Premier League. Checking in to see how these players are coping and lifting the lid on life in lockdown, SoccerBible presents the first instalment of ‘The Dial Up’, with Norwich’s Todd Cantwell picking up on the other end of the line for the inaugural episode.

Todd Cantwell has burst onto the Premier League scene this season, emerging as one of the highlights in an otherwise tough return to the life at the top table for Norwich. At 22, he has spent his entire career at the Norfolk club – a short loan spell at Dutch side Fortuna Sittard aside – and he was revelling in the attacking approach of manager Daniel Farke. Prior to the shut down of football, Cantwell had six goals and two assists to his name, and while his club were certainly embroiled in a relegation battle, they were also still enjoying an FA Cup run.

In the first episode of our ongoing series, Cantwell picked up the phone for a video call to talk us through his career to date and how he’s dealing with life in lockdown. With a down-to-Earth outlook on not only life in general but also the current situation, he candidly talked us through how his day to day routine has been affected and how he’s filling his time, as well as giving us a sneak peek inside his fridge. Not as you’d imagine is all we’d say. So how has the young man taken to life in lockdown? Is he going to shave off his flowing locks? And what’s the deal with him and jelly?!

I've used this period to really reflect and have a look at what I can do better and obviously also give myself a personal pat on the back for how I've adapted"

I ordered some golf balls and I've just been hitting them out into the field and then going to collect them. Haven't okayed it with the farmer, but I'm sure it won’t be a problem... I'm not aiming for his animals so he should be alright!"
