Sarah Mensah Takes Us Into the World of Jordan x Brazil

We sat down with President of Jordan Brand, Sarah Mensah, as the Jumpman makes its first real statement in international football through a headline collab with the Brazil national team.

As Sarah Mensah leads Jordan Brand into the uncharted territory, the brand synonymous with hardwood dominance is now stepping onto the world’s biggest pitch. In a landmark move, it’s first ever move into international football comes through a bold collaboration with the Brazil national football teams.

During our chat, Mensah reflects on what this moment means. Not just as product launch, but as a cultural crossover between two global sporting powerhouses. We discuss how Jordan has carefully navigated its entry into the beautiful game, the responsibility that comes with aligning with Brazil’s rich football identity, and how this collab signals a long-term vision from the Jumpman.

As football continues to evolve at the intersection of sort, style, and storytelling, Jordan Brand is making its intentions clear. This is just the beginning.

We’ve seen Jordan reshape basketball and move into club football with PSG, but international football is different, it carries a unique emotional weight. What does it mean for the brand to step into that space?

"It’s an incredibly important moment—one we don’t take lightly. At Jordan Brand, we talk a lot about greatness. There’s a responsibility to ensure that everything we do lives up to that standard.

We see the brand as a symbol of inspiration for athletes and fans around the world—to elevate. So when we enter new sports, we have to do it in a way that’s equally inspiring. This moment has been years in the making, so it’s exciting to finally see it come to life."

Brazil is arguably the most culturally influential national team in the world—almost everyone’s second favourite team. What made them the right partner?

"Exactly for that reason. When you look at the history and legacy of Brazilian football—and the love fans around the world have for it—it’s unmatched.

As we explored the partnership, it became clear this was an intersection of two brands with so much to gain. Together, we have the opportunity to help define the next great era of football and football culture.

When Jordan enters a space, we do so intentionally. We ask: what does football culture mean, and where can we uniquely contribute? That’s a space we feel we can truly occupy."

Partnerships at this level tap into identity and national pride. How do you approach that responsibility?

"With respect and reverence. There’s a real responsibility to ensure everything is authentic and meaningful.

Our conversations started years ago and focused on understanding athletes—not just what they need on the pitch, but in their lives. We also looked at how the brand can show up in a way that adds value to both the athletes and the wider Brazilian community, as well as global football fans who may not have felt represented before.

It’s about finding a unique space where we can genuinely contribute."

Jordan has always thrived in lifestyle and streetwear. How important is the wider collection beyond the on-pitch kit?

"It’s hugely important. We wanted everyone to be able to participate in this moment—not just the players, but the entire community around the game. There’s been a lot of intentional thought around how this comes to life, so people can feel part of it. Hopefully, it helps define a new way of showing up in football culture for generations to come."

What does this project say about the evolving relationship between football, fashion, and global culture?

"It starts with “greatness meets greatness”—two unique brands coming together in an unexpected but powerful way. Whenever brands that stand for excellence collaborate with the intention of taking fans somewhere new, you create something special. We’ve seen that with Jordan before, just not on this scale. It’s exciting to think about what it means for the future."

Where do you see Jordan going next in football?

"We definitely see ourselves continuing to grow in the space—but it has to be done authentically, intentionally, and in a measured way. We’re here for the long run, and more importantly, we’re here to take the game somewhere new."

If you had to sum up this collaboration in a word or phrase?

"Greatness multiplied."
