Gosha Rubchinskiy and adidas return for a second collaboration as the Season II collection continues to fuse high-end fashion with performance wear. Inspired by Russian youth culture of the 80s and 90s, the collection was presented at an exclusive show in St. Petersburg, the epicenter of Russian football.
Season II marks the next chapter of an ongoing partnership leading up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and leans on Gosha's unique view on the world of fashion to re-join forces with adidas Football to create bespoke pieces that are fused together with the designer’s eye for high-end fashion and adidas’ innovation and performance technology.
Working closely with the adidas design team and taking inspiration from the 90s rave scene in Russia, the new range sees Gosha develop his own shapes. The result: a collection consisting of matchwear apparel, training apparel, footwear and accessories – all inspired by vintage Russian football, patterns and styles. Those Gosha Nemeziz 17 Tango shoes are where it's at. Football fashion reinvented at every turn.
Designed in Gosha’s signature style, the latest collection celebrates the taste of a generation. Hero pieces include oversized training apparel, woven tracksuits, French Terry tops and pants, and cotton sleeveless tops – with certain garments featuring the word ‘football’ woven in Cyrillic. The range also comprises of a selection of footwear and accessories, including gym bags and water bottles.
The collection will be presented to the public at an exclusive event in the epicentre of Russian football, St. Petersburg – a carefully selected location synonymous with the youth culture of Russia today. Due to the city’s long-held love of music and arts – and the scene of Russia’s first ever rave, held in 1989 – adidas Football and Gosha found St. Petersburg to be the perfect location to celebrate the latest collaboration.
A collection with such identity needs to be explained by the brains behind it, and Gosha said: “The next two years signal some of the biggest years in sport for my home country, Russia, as we prepare for our first ever FIFA World Cup in 2018. By teaming up with adidas Football it’s enabled me to celebrate the youth of Russia in the eyes of the world by creating garments which combine my vision of fashion with the best sportswear brand on the market.”
